Chapter 29: Genius

“Umm... about that single darkness affinity thing...It’s not as single as it used to be...” Blake said while giving a wide smile to Vera, seemingly wanting to make her more curious.

And he succeeded as Vera looked at Blake with confusion once again, but this time, she didn’t even tilt her head and wondered, instead, she just stared at him with one of her eyebrows raised.

The sentence that had just come out of his mouth was something that didn’t make any sense in Vera’s head, and she didn’t even bother to try and process what Blake meant and just straight up gave him a questioning look.

Seeing that he got the exact opposite reaction from what he wanted, Blake coughed and spoke,

“Do you remember that I awakened my bloodline power?”

She nodded.

“That bloodline power turned out to be quite powerful and I planned to keep it a secret to surprise you later on, but after thinking about it, letting you know so that you can help me think about how to utilize it would be a much wiser choice”

.....

“What is your bloodline power?” She asked, slightly impatient as he was genuinely curious about it.

Blake was a humanoid demon right from birth, and his parents should be someone from the deeper demon realm. If she knew what his bloodline power was, then there was a chance that she might be able to know who his parents were by figuring out who had the same bloodline power as him. Moreover, if he had a powerful bloodline power, then there’s a higher chance that she might recognize it since a strong bloodline power was always observed and remembered in the deeper realms where factions mattered a lot, and she had to be aware of all the different factions that the demons belonged to.

But instead of giving Vera an outright answer, Blake instead raised his right hand and started drawing runes with it.

“Hey, you just had your nether drained, don’t force yourself,” Vera said when she looked at what Blake was doing.

“Just see it for yourself, you won’t believe me if I only use words to explain it to you,” Blake replied.

Blake then quickly finished the simple earth wall runes and in the next moment, the runes flashed and an earth wall appeared a few meters in front of him and Vera.

Initially, Vera looked at the earth wall as if it was nothing special and turned her head back to look at Blake as if asking him what he wanted to show her. But after looking at Blake’s face which had both of his eyebrows raised with a slight smile on his mouth, Vera began to realize something was definitely amiss.

She then turned her head to the earth wall that Blake had just cast, then turned his eyes back to Blake. She repeated it again about two more times before a thought appeared in her head,

‘What’s special from Blake casting a basic earth elemental spell...? Wait, Blake cast what?’

When the realization dawned upon her, Vera literally jerked her head towards Blake and grabbed both of his shoulders while shouting at the top of her lungs,

“HOW... HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!??” It was probably her hundredth time saying the exact same line in the span of an hour, but this time, her surprise was off the charts and she didn’t even know anything else to say to react to what had just happened in front of her.

Although the affinity measuring device wasn’t accurate, it would never fail in detecting what kind of affinities a demon had. She had seen it with her own eyes how the entire crystal ball turned to pitch black when Blake injected his nether into it. There’s no way she would have missed Blake’s earth affinity if he really had one.

But the fact that Blake had just nonchalantly cast an earth elemental spell using his own hand was something that Vera couldn’t register in her brain. Hence the reason why she was staring dumbly at him for the first few seconds when the realization hadn’t dawned on her.

Getting an additional elemental affinity was simply impossible for demons. They were born with a set affinities and they lived their whole lives until their death with those affinities. But Blake had done something that she had never heard, let alone seen before. There’s no record of such a thing ever happening even in the deeper realm where she was born nor the realm deeper than her own.

This time, she was truly speechless when she saw what the humanoid demon in front of her had done. She couldn’t even utter the disbelief and dumbfoundment she felt as she just stared back and forth between Blake and the earth wall.

And as if to mock her for not believing what her eyes were seeing, Blake cast another earth spell and an earth spike soon appeared beside the earth wall.

Just like before, she stayed speechless at the scene in front of her. But this time, she had already swallowed some of the facts that she had just learned and just stared at the two earth constructs blank as if she was still trying to accept that the fact that she had learned ever since she was born was actually false.

And Blake, the one who was responsible for making Vera’s mind stopped working for a while, let out a chuckle as it certainly wasn’t his purpose to make the demoness dumbfounded beyond belief.

He wanted to make her surprised and excited when she saw how amazing his bloodline power was, but the surprise element was so huge that the excited part didn’t come at all and Blake couldn’t see Vera’s shining eyes again.

However, seeing her dumbfounded face in exchange for her twinkling eyes was definitely worth it for Blake as even her dumbfounded face looked attractive and made him want to stare at her face again, which he definitely did as his face was currently all smiles as he looked at one of the rarest expression on ever showed on Vera’s face.

It took Vera a solid two minutes to calm herself down before she muttered again,

“Is there anything else you want to show me? You might as well surprise me to death at this point...” She meant it as a joke, but she definitely didn’t expect a reply like this,

“What about my original spell? You want to see it?”

“ORIGINAL SPELL!? YOU’VE CREATED AN ORIGINAL SPELL IN JUST 7 DAYS!?”

“4 actually...”

“Ha....” Vera released a huge sigh as she lowered herself to the ground, and this time, she was the one who was staring at the dimly lit ceiling of the basement with a blank look on her face.

‘They said I was a genius... If I’m already considered a genius then what is this guy? A demon god or something...?’ She thought to herself as she took several deep breaths, trying to calm her heart that had been beating hard for the last couple of minutes.
