Chapter 2: Mystery

"It's fine don't worry about it." Kaden stuttered looking back up at the tall girl. After realizing the situation Kaden immediately backed up and stuck his hand out, motioning for her to move forward first.

"You go ahead first." Kaden said still motioning her to move first.

"Thank you and sorry again." The girl said taking out one of her earbuds which was still blaring music, loud enough for Kaden to hear and even recognize the band playing.

"Stage presence?" Kaden mumbled under his breath accidentally as he heard the music.

The girl then looked up at him surprised by the mumble and paused the loud music, "You know them?" She questioned in an interested tone.

"Yes I do. Their music is on one of my playlist." Kaden said laughing awkwardly and scratching his head.

'WHY DID I HAVE TO MUMBLE THE BAND NAME!' Kaden shouted inwardly. Mad at the fact he could have already been at his apartment.

"You don't seem like the sort to listen to this type of music. Much less a relatively unknown band like Stage Presence." The girl admitted, looking at Kadens outfit up and down once more with a questioning look on her face.

"Well, you know the saying, appearances can be deceiving. Plus I understand why you think that way after all Stage Presence ended right as it began. The second they started to attain fame they just up and quit for no reason." Kaden sighed, actually disappointed at the bands lack of motivation frowning slightly.

"PFFT!" Laughter rang inside the elevator as the girl beside Kaden burst out laughing making Kaden completely confused.

The laugh soon died down completely making Kaden look at the girl whom was wiping a tear from her eye smearing some of her makeup and holding her stomach with the other questionably.

"What's so funny?" Kaden asked genuinely confused.

The girl looked back up at Kaden seeing his completely confused expression making her giggle more, contrast to her domineering appearance, "It's nothing hahaha. Your face just seemed so sad at the fact that the band is gone." She chuckled once more.

"Is that funny somehow? I might have missed the punch line?" Kaden genuinely asked wondering how such a thing could be funny.

The girls face slightly changed to a surprised one for a moment before changing into a scared one and finally into a wide smile that she showed to Kaden, "That's true, I guess I just have a strange sense of humor haha." The girl chuckled a little bit creeping Kaden out a little.

'I think I should get out of here.' Kaden thought nervously looking up at the girl with a smile still plastered on her face making Kaden immediately put on one of his own.

"It seems so haha, thank you for chatting with me but it seems I must go now." Kaden said with a fake smile and energy behind his words. Also checking his phone showing that he was on a time limit for some sort of event.

Without waiting for the strange girl to answer Kaden walked out of the elevator hurriedly making his way towards his apartment. After taking a left almost sprinting at this point Kaden saw his apartment with the number 03 on it. He took out his keys slightly fumbling them for a moment causing him to take longer than he intended before finally opening his door and entering his apartment.

-----

"Ha. Hahahahaha." Muffled giggles ring out in the hallway where Kaden previously was. Standing in front of the apartment door with the number 03 on it, the girl Kaden was just talking to thinks back to the expression he made when talking about the band she was listening to, making her giggle more.

'This is bad. I really like his face when he's sad~' The girl thinks with a huge creepy smile plastered on her face but when she thinks back to later in their conversation when he seemed overly smiley and friendly she frowns deeply, 'I don't like that pesky mask of his! Wait..... I DIDN'T EVEN GET HIS NAME!' She screamed inwardly. Putting his facade at the back of her mind, she slightly panics before looking up at the door with the number 03 on it, "Well it seems we'll be seeing a lot of each other. I've taken an interest in you, unlucky for you, neighbor." She whispers under her breath walking one door to the right opening the door with the number 04 on it going inside.

-----

Once inside his apartment Kaden let out a tired sigh leaving the lights off and going to his room before throwing his body on the covers immediately covering himself all over not letting a speck of coldness outside the confines of his blanket.

'Goodness, today has been so stressful.' He thought lightly.

'First I have to turn down the soon to be sweetheart of my new school and then meet a weird girl in the elevator laughing at strange things.' He continued on inside his mind relishing the feeling of his blanket.

"Ughhhhh." He verbally lets out his frustration, flipping on his side in the bed to pull his phone out and scroll through emails before clicking one to read again for the 100th time.
