Chapter 28: King Crab Card

Scallops, big prawns, clams, blue crabs, oysters, shrimp…

Freshly steamed seafood was on the table, and the smell alone was enough to get people drooling.

Wang Yan used his chopsticks to grab a piece of scallop and pick the meat out of its shell. After dipping it into the sauce, he placed his left hand below the chopsticks to prevent the sauce from dripping everywhere and delivered it to Liu Li’s mouth.

“Eat first, San Wang.”

“Ooooooh—”

Everyone started teasing them.

Liu Li’s face was a little red, yet she held in her laughter and lowered her head to take the scallop meat from Wang Yan.

No matter what it was like the next day, at least that day was memorable, so… she decided to be happy at that moment.

There was a line from a poem that mentioned, “Utter tenderness flows when you lower your head.”

Wang Yan looked at Liu Li, who was smiling at the ground, and felt like he had been shot by Cupid’s arrow.

Damn it, why was she so good looking?

The crush he had on He Meng was still present, but if he were to compare both of them, he would choose Liu Li without hesitation.

Hence, Wang Yan was still not considered a mature man.

Why would a mature man choose?

He would take both!

The seafood from that shop was delicious. It was fresh and the meat was juicy and sweet.

Once Wang Yan started, he couldn’t stop, and soon, there was a huge pile of shells in front of him.

Liu Li had a small appetite, so she was just taking care of the people beside her.

However, most of the shrimp she peeled was given to Wang Yan. Only a few were given to Lin Weiwei.

If that had been done in the past, Lin Weiwei would have complained about it. But that day, Lin Weiwei didn’t say anything. She would eat them if she was given some. Otherwise, she would just chat with the rest of them.

Wang Yan didn’t get food for anyone, but when Reyi Nawu saw that he was eating so happily, she helped him deshell a blue crab.

Liu Li didn’t think much about it, but she didn’t know how the others felt.

Wang Yan didn’t decline the offer and was trying to get the meat from the crab leg. He was satisfied and feeling happy.

Suddenly, his expression changed.

“Ding! You have gotten immense satisfaction from delicacies. Here’s your secret reward!”

What the heck!

Getting it with just a probability of four percent!

But, why did it have to be Reyi Nawu’s crab specifically?

His San Wang had peeled so many prawns…

“Okay, it doesn’t matter who it came from. Let me take a look at the reward!” Wang Yan thought. He went to look at the panel excitedly.

“King Crab Card: One-time usage only.

“You can invite no more than eight people to feast on crabs. Cash rebates of minimum ten times and maximum fifty times the original price will be returned for every crab that is eaten.”

Wang Yan’s first instinct was to treat everyone to Yangcheng Lake’s hairy crabs.

He had heard that half a pound of male crabs could sell for 400 to 500 dollars. Wang Yan felt that he could easily devour ten of them.

Four thousand to five thousand dollars multiplied by 30 times was 150,000 dollars. That meant he was going to get at least 150,000 dollars back.

If there were eight people and each of them cleared ten crabs, wouldn’t that mean he would be earning 1,200,000 dollars?!

What a useful booster card!

He immediately asked Liu Li, “Do you want to eat Yangcheng Lake’s hairy crabs?”

“Yes.” She was still focused on peeling the shell off of a prawn but asked, “Why? Blue crabs aren’t enough for you?”

Blue crabs were too cheap!

Wang Yan internally complained and replied, “I’ll treat you to those next time.”

“Sure! But we’ll have to wait until September or October before we can buy any.”

That one sentence caused Wang Yan to freeze in place.

“Right! Hairy crabs are only in season in September?!” he thought.

Okay, he had to plan it when the school term started.

He sighed and forgot about the card altogether. Eating was more important at that moment.

After finishing the meal, it was close to three in the afternoon.

The people who ate the most were Wang Yan, Han Luzhou, and Reyi Nawu. Although eating seafood wouldn’t cause them to get fat, the remaining girls’ appetites were all very small.

After a brief discussion, they agreed to go to an escape room.

Zi Zhu Qiao had quite a few activities, including laser tag, escape rooms, board games, trampolines, and bubble soccer. The reviews were saying that all of them were fun.

After reaching the place, a few girls saw the place for bubble soccer and wouldn’t go further.

Okay, they would play that!

Bubble soccer required people to be inside an inflated bubble from the knees up, leaving only their legs free for running around. In a big space, they would run around and bump into each other.

Wang Yan had watched it on a variety show before, but the game wasn’t available in Gu Jiao. He was interested since he was finally able to take part in it.

The place was massive, with a twenty-five by ten-foot pit, and surrounding it were sponge mats and trampolines as a fence.

There were five girls and two guys. After putting on their bubbles, the match started.

Capital dance students were quite interesting because the ladies on the other field would run away when someone was going to bump into them, but the five dancers would take the initiative to attack other people instead.

At first, the five girls tried to bully the two guys.

Wang Yan teamed up with Han Luzhou immediately, and they stood back to back, defending a side each. The two were able to push their opponents back from this position.

The girls were all screaming, scolding, and laughing at the same time, but they couldn’t defeat the two guys.

Wang Xue must have thought the game was getting boring, so she switched sides and said, “Hubby, I’m joining your side!”

Hence, it became three versus four.

Why would the others let it happen?

Wang Yan switched sides immediately as well. As Han Luzhou was running towards Liu Li, Wang Yan attacked from the side and made him fall.

“Girls, surround him, don’t let him get up!”

Liu Li, Lin Weiwei, and the rest of the girls were finally getting the upper hand. They didn’t let him get up, but at the same time, they were busy chasing each other and bumping into one another.

There was laughter coming from all around.

Wang Xue wanted to save her boyfriend, but Wang Yan blocked her from doing so.

It was a great situation until it was disrupted by a bored Lin Weiwei.

When she was walking beside Wang Yan, she gave him a strong push, and for the first time, Wang Yan felt the world spinning.

He thought, “What the heck!”

He was so confused that he didn’t know what direction was up.

At the same time, he was stuck. He panicked so much he didn’t even remember his last name anymore.

But it was also fun and liberating.

After a while, the five girls grew tired and only the two guys remained standing. Thus, the girls started fussing.

“Battle! Battle! Battle!”

Bring it on then!

What guy didn’t have a competitive side?

Wang Yan and Han Luzhou were staring at each other as if there were lasers coming from their eyes.

After dashing towards each other, Wang Yan crashed into Han Luzhou and flew back. The scene was like a comet hitting Earth.

In the end, Han Luzhou fell and sat on the floor while Wang Yan rolled far to the back like a ball.

Han Luzhou chased after him since he was winning, but Wang Yan instantly changed his strategy.

If he didn’t have as much momentum as his opponent, he had to think of another way to turn the situation around.

Wrestling, giving in, and finding opportunities, the two men played with each other for around five minutes. In the end, Wang Yan won with his perseverance after Han Luzhou was drained of energy.

Taking off the bubble, Han Luzhou was sweaty. He gave Wang Yan a thumbs up.

“Wang Yan, you’re really good! I dance, but my perseverance was nothing compared to yours, so good job!”

Wang Yan was also left with the last word. He shook his head and smiled. “You’re taller, stronger, and have more explosive force. You consume energy faster than me, thus I won by dodging, haha!”

Even though he was laughing, Wang Yan internally envied Han Luzhou. Who didn’t want to be tall, strong, and handsome?

He didn’t know if the System had any item that could allow him to go through puberty again…

Looking forward to the next activity, everyone gathered again, but no one had the energy to go to the escape room anymore.

“I’m too tired. Can we do the escape room next time?” Reyi Nawu acted cutely.

“How about we find a place to bathe and play cards instead?”

Lu Yuanyuan suddenly had an idea that earned everyone’s approval.

“Okay! We’ll be going dutch for a trip to Jeju Island. How does that sound?”

“I have some Yellowstone Park vouchers that can be used in Jeju Island!”

“We can go in a group. There are more discounts!”

Wang Yan wanted to say it was his treat, but he was stopped by Lin Weiwei. “There will be chances to pay when we go to karaoke tonight. Don’t fight for the opportunity now!”

Okay, he would leave it.

Looking at how lively they were, Wang Yan felt that it was the university life he had envisioned. They seemed immensely happy.

He wondered what Xingcheng Normal University was like and hoped it would be a surprise…

The girls finalized the group tickets fast. It was going to be the end of a sale so there were lots of discounts for grabs. The final price was cheap for Wang Yan, who came from a small town, as well.

Each person was 63 dollars, including entrance tickets, complimentary items, bathing rooms, a plate of fruits, and unlimited hot water. Lin Weiwei retrieved two bags of tea bags from her car and they were ready.

Wang Yan added Lin Weiwei on Wechat and paid her 63 dollars. Finally, all of them left separately in two cars.

The other car belonged to Wang Xue. It was a dashing red car that her father had bought for her.

At the place, the two men were lazing around in the hot pool.

Wang Yan didn’t take off his watch because it was a 100-feet water-resistant watch.

Han Luzhou gave it a look, and then another look, but couldn’t resist being envious.

“Wang, your watch looks boss!”

Wang Yan wasn’t the type to act arrogant. Moreover, it was the Capital, so no one had the right to be arrogant.

Thus, he laughed it off. “Luzhou, locals like you have houses that are worth more than twenty of my watches. Who should be envious of whom?”

Talking about that, Han Luzhou’s face dropped.

“Brother, even if the house was worth a lot, it cannot be sold, right? In two years when I get married, I need to buy a new house too, right? What’s my pay like? You won’t understand my troubles…”

What did he not know?

He knew it all too well.

Wang Yan thought to himself, “A week ago, I wouldn’t even dream of buying a house in my town.”

Marriage?

He would drag along until 30 years old and see if there was any lady who would want him at all…

Thinking about a lady that wanted him, Wang Yan suddenly thought of Liu Li’s smiling face.

She was a great lady that was prudent with her expenditures.

Unfortunately, he still had seven years if he was to get married at 26 years old.

Seven years!

That was too far away…

By that time, would there not be a million-dollar reward?

She might not see drastic changes, but he was unsure of his own changes. He couldn’t imagine what he would become!

Too exciting, such a lifestyle was too exciting…

No!

He needed to get San Wang fast!

Wang Yan suddenly felt pressured. He wasn’t afraid of Liu Li leaving—he was afraid he was changing too much as time passed.

Wang Yan felt like he needed a goal.

Every time he was confused, a goal helped him settle himself and not get lost.
