The Big Secret of the Research Island

Roar roar!

Hiss hiss hiss…

In the jungle, the beasts’ ferocity gave way to blind terror, and they all screamed incessantly as the eight pythons—Chun, Hua, Qiu, Yue, Xun, Huan, Zuo, and Le—chased them down.

As for Ye Bei… he remained motionless.

He was overcome with excitement as he stared at the latest information displayed before his eyes.

And saw that there was an extremely vital piece of new information on the screen.

According to the information recorded on the screen, as long as he completed the fifth stage of evolution, he’d be able to rely on the Blood Python’s genes in order to evolve into the legendary Titan Python. Once that happened, his body would exceed its current length and reach, if not surpass, ten meters!

He got excited just thinking about it!

Although a million Points were needed for this evolution…

…after consuming more than a thousand high-level beasts, he had already amassed more than 310,000 Evolution Points.

Based on this incident, Ye Bei figured… that all he needed to do was to hunt on this island for a period of time, without stepping off it, and he’d be able to evolve into a Titan Python. And once he became a Titan Python, his strength would surely increase once again.

Ye Bei was looking forward to it!

But soon, Ye Bei suddenly realized that more information about his territory had appeared in his mind.

This information quickly took hold of his attention.

As he processed the information about his territory, Ye Bei quickly retrieved the map of the island he’d taken from Alex and started to scrutinize it closely.

There was a simple reason for this.

If he wanted to better control his territory, he first had to gain a clear understanding of the situation on this island.

Even when the eagle had carried him into the sky, he still hadn’t gained a clear view of the entire island. Yes, he was extremely curious about this place!

He finally found the drawing!

The map was drawn on a square piece of parchment; however, the letterings and images were all modern craftsmanship.

At the top of the map, there was a huge title written in English.

Fortunately, Ye Bei had been an academically gifted student, and had performed well in all his subjects, including English.

The Deserted Atlantic Research Island!

This was the name of the island…

Ye Bei immediately searched his mind for any memory of this name and realized that he had never heard of it before. Furthermore, the name sounded extremely strange. A research island? Was this island used for research and experiments?

However… there was information on the map that surprised Ye Bei even more.

This island was 640 square kilometers?

In other words, it had to be at least 80 kilometers in diameter… There are a thousand meters in a kilometer, which means the island was 800,000 meters long!!

Put in this light, the island was massive!

Other than this, there was something else about the island that attracted Ye Bei’s attention!

On this map, the entire island was clearly divided into four squares. Each square was painted a different color—namely, red, yellow, green, and white! And the map had a key, which provided an explanation for each color.

Red: Research Island’s forbidden zone. This area is filled with a large number of mutated beasts. They have a high propensity to cause harm, and they’re extremely hostile towards humans. Entering is a one-way street to death, even if you come prepared with weapons. This area is classified as forbidden to enter.

Yellow: Research Island’s restricted zone. This area is filled with a large number of mutated beasts. They have a high propensity to cause harm, but unless provoked, these beasts generally don’t attack humans. These beasts were likely tamed by humans during previous experiments, and hence possess a certain affection for humans.

Green: A common enclosure for the beasts. There are a few mutated beasts who lead the pack. They are docile and relatively harmless. Ordinary weapons are sufficient to deal with them.

White: A plantation consisting of various mutated plants that are highly dangerous.

After reading the map key, Ye Bei took a deep breath…

Because through reading the map’s contents, Ye Bei was able to decisively come to a few conclusions!

First of all, this island was deserted. However, in the past, there had once been a research facility that conducted experiments related to bioengineering. But the experiments failed, causing mutations in a large number of beasts and plants, and because the island was in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, it was simply abandoned, and the creatures were left to fend for themselves.

Secondly, the area Ye Bei was currently in was likely just a green zone. The entire island was divided into four zones, and there were a large number of mutated beasts in the other areas. This was very good news for Ye Bei. After all, mutant beasts accounted for a very high number of Evolution Points!

Lastly, on this island, there were mutated plants that could attack other creatures… This was highly unusual!

After considering these points, Ye Bei decisively said to the system, “System! According to what you said earlier, as long as I devour all the creatures on this island, I can evolve into a Titan Python! Were you referring only to the Green Zone? This island is so huge, and it houses so many mutant beasts. There must be over a million Evolution Points here. What’s going on?” This was what Ye Bei couldn’t understand.

“Host, please understand the instructions I gave you. When I instructed you to eat all the creatures here, I meant that you should consume one of every species! Throughout the evolution process, many species can be consumed more than once. According to your current rate of consumption, you only need to consume two-thirds of the creatures in the Green Zone to commence your evolution into a Titan Python.”

The System’s answer was very direct.

Um…

When Ye Bei heard the System’s answer, he was slightly taken aback.

Then, he felt ecstatic…

The System had even started playing word games with him! However, he had to admit that this was very good news! The Green Zone was the least dangerous area on this island… Therefore, the other zones were guaranteed to have more resources.

“Got it! I understand now…” Ye Bei nodded his head.

Then, he used the venom from the fangs at the corners of his mouth to dissolve the parchment map.

As for the map’s content, Ye Bei had already committed it to memory…

“Alright, System! Let’s talk about the domain. The entire area five kilometers out from where I’m standing seems to encompass the entire Green Zone. What can I do while I’m in my domain?” Ye Bei asked.

Hm?

Just as Ye Bei finished voicing his question, his back suddenly stiffened.

After the domain was opened… At that very moment, Ye Bei could clearly see four helicopters flying through the sky, not too far from where he was… They were about to land on the island!!!
